SCHOLARSHIPS

The Music Boosters are proud to be able to offer a number of scholarships to our most dedicated musicians. These scholarship funds may be used for a variety of purposes, but all are meant to advance our students’ musicianship and foster their love of music. The funds we raise through our various events and fundraisers help provide the means for these scholarships, and we are grateful for all the support we receive from parents, alumni, community members, students, and friends. Together, we make it possible to allow students to hone their skills and pursue their musical ambitions.

Music Booster Scholarships

Awarded to students currently in grades 9, 10, and 11, this $150 award may be used to pay for private music lessons, or to attend a summer music program (such as a music camp or clinic). Proof of lessons and/or summer program attendance is required. Scholarship applications are open in late winter/early spring, and winners are announced in May. Funds are distributed starting in late summer or early fall of the student’s sophomore, junior, or senior year. Students may apply for and receive this scholarship all three years, as long as they remain in a performance music class (band or choir). Note: this scholarship may not be used for BHS Band Camp activities. Awardees are selected by the music directors.

Freshman Music Scholarships

Awarded to a small number of Freshman music students during the first few months of the school year, this $150 scholarship may only be used for private music lessons (instrumental or voice lessons) to help promising young musicians improve their skills during their first year of high school. Applications are open in the fall, and funds are distributed in late fall/early winter. Awardees are selected by the music directors.

Joseph Madura Memorial Music Scholarship

Awarded to a small number of graduating seniors, this competitive scholarship honors the memory of Joseph Madura, an avid musician and father to two BHS music alumni. The Madura Scholarship awards $250 to a dedicated senior who demonstrates a continued commitment to participating in music activities after high school. Applications are open in late winter/early spring, and funds are awarded at the Bolingbrook High School Academic Awards Ceremony in May. Awardees are selected by a scholarship selection committee consisting of BHS faculty and administrators.

Leadership Camp Support

Awarded to the three appointed Marching Raiders Drum Majors, these awards help offset the cost of attendance to a required leadership camp during the summer prior to marching band season. Award amounts vary per year, and are available only to the appointed Drum Majors.
